The Southwest Washington Adult Baseball League (SWABL) aspires the highest level of sportsmanship. This means showing respect for opposing players, teammates, umpires, fans and the fields upon which we play. Fighting, leaving the bench or your position during an altercation (for any reason), throwing equipment, deliberate efforts to injure another player, constant arguing with teammates/umpires including approaching in the parking lot to continue the argument and/or excessive profanity are examples of poor sportsmanship. SWABL has a zero-tolerance policy for violence or threats of violence of any kind. Players, managers, and others who fail to meet this standard of sportsmanship are subject to ejection from games, suspensions from future games, up to and including banishment from the SWABL entirely.
These Southwest Washington Adult Baseball League (SWABL) has chosen to incorporate the basic rule structure from National Adult Baseball Association, (NABA). These rules have been ratified by the SWABL Executive Board and have been instituted in the best interest of the SWABL and the baseball experience of its membership. These rules are in supplement the Official Baseball Rules. Where there are discrepancies in the rules, the SWABL Rules shall take precedence.
A modified/condensed version of the SWABL Rules has been created for umpires and managers so as to better adjudicate game play.
The Executive Board recommends that each manager, umpire, and player review these rules prior to the start of the SWABL season and have them handy in the event of any misunderstanding during a game.
